Bourton-on-the-Water

Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds" because the River Windrush runs through the centre. The combination of this clear water and the attractive low bridges crossing it create a charming scene, best enjoyed in the quieter times of day and quieter months of the year.

Bourton has plenty of visitor attractions, suitable for visitors of all ages. Its tourism promotion has grown around the Model Village (a mini replica of the village itself) opened in 1937 and Birdland, opened twenty years later. St Lawrence’s Church is of several periods, and is notable for its domed tower, unique in the Cotswolds. Salmonsbury Meadows has recently been saved as a wildlife reserve, and the Iron Age site of Salmonsbury Camp can also be traced in outline.

Overview

The Old Manse Hotel in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, is a delightful English Country Hotel, Restaurant and Public House overlooking the River Windrush, which flows gently through the centre of this picture post card Cotswold village.

Situated in the centre of the town, the Old Manse was originally built for the local Baptist pastor in 1748 and encompasses plenty of traditional Cotswold charm, making it the ideal retreat at any time of year.

The restaurant, bar, heated garden terrace and riverside patio all offer a seasonal menu, with a wide selection of modern and traditional British favourites, from hearty main courses to lighter snacks, complemented by a selection of real ale, carefully selected wines and speciality teas and coffees.

The Hotel has 15 comfortable ensuite bedrooms of individual character ranging from a Romantic Four Poster room to character filled beamed rooms in the adjoining annexe.
