Overview

The Antelope Hotel in Poole, Dorset, is a famous old coaching house in the High Street and has been a popular meeting place through the centuries. It still retains part of its original 15th century building.

Situated so conveniently for Poole Quay (the hotel is not on the quay), the hotel was used by the horse coaches as a stop off for Lymington, Southampton, Bath, Bristol, Weymouth and London.

Step off the High Street into the traditional and cosy bar of Poole’s oldest hostelry and then walk through to discover the hidden treasure of Smugglers restaurant.

Smugglers is adorned with all kinds of ancient nautical and fishing paraphernalia, very much in keeping with the maritime feel of this old building. Flagstone floors, raised decking areas, wood panelling, brick arches and wooden banisters all combine to create cosy dining areas and of the feeling of a bygone age.

The hotel has 21 ensuite bedrooms, with a mixture of singles, doubles, twin and two Feature rooms for that special occasion.
