Budleigh Salterton, in East Devon, is situated on the coast in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It is a well known resort, with its spectacular red cliffs (Red Devonian Sandstone) that form the western end of the Jurassic Coast.
Budleigh Salterton town centre is made up of many independently owned shops and is only a short walk from the sea front. The seafront is a clean pebble beach, with clear water and safe swimming.
The pebble beach is 2.5 miles long, stretching from Littleham Cove to the west through to Otterhead in the east, where the River Otter meets the sea. Swimming is safe and the water is clean and clear. You can even hire a beach huts by the day or the week (from the Tourist Information Centre).
