St Mawes, which looks out over the River Fal estuary towards the busy harbour town of Falmouth, is a pretty surrounded by dramatic Cornish coastline. It is well known for being the setting for the television series Poldark.
Boats and yachts are an important part of life in St Mawes, continually setting anchor in the calm waters just beyond the main harbour. Its sheltered location creates a safe anchorage with easy access to the coast and the Fal Estuary.
St Mawes is a great place for a family holiday with two good beaches on either side of the harbour. Both are excellent for swimming and sunbathing.
Ferries regularly leave the harbour for short trips across the river to Anthony Head or across to Falmouth.
