Lostwithiel nestles in the Fowey River valley and is about 6 miles away from The Eden Project and 5 miles away from Fowey. Lostwithiel is surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside and has the Fowey River flowing through the town.

The 12th century Restormel Castle overlooks the town, It is a 13th-century "circular shell-keep" and still encloses the principal rooms of the castle in remarkably good condition. The Castle stands on a hill, on the site of an earlier Norman mound surrounded by a deep dry ditch, beside the River Fowey. Twice visited by the Black Prince, it finally saw action during the Civil War in 1644.

Lostwithiel is a great town for using as a holiday base in Cornwall. As well as The Eden Project and Restormel Castle, nearby there is Lanhydrock House, the famed North and South coasts are not far away and other great Cornish towns like St Ives, Padstow, Falmouth or Penzance which are all an easy day trip away.

Lostwithiel is often called "the antiques capital of Cornwall" as it has many antique shops, regular fairs and auctions.
